Welcome

Welcome to Peters Creek Presbyterian Church (PCC) "Legal Truth" website.

During its long history, PCC has served the Lord by focusing its mission on reaching out to those in need and spreading the good news of Christ's salvation. As a congregation we are blessed to be able to continue this mission, but we need your help.

Last year, with an overwhelming majority, our congregation decided to break from our main-line denomination, the United Presbyterian Church USA (PCUSA), and join the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC). While this action has allowed us to more effectively continue our Christ-centered mission, the PCUSA has forced us into a long and costly legal battle for our property. It is unfortunate that the PCUSA will not abide by our majority vote despite their initial claim that they would support a "gracious separation" if that was the will of our congregation. However, we are confident that the courts, where property matters are settled, will ultimately rule in our favor.

Over the past year, we have been committed to praying for God's guidance, and He has blessed us in many ways. Our attendance is up, our music ministry is growing, and our staff and congregation are excited about our programs and services. We even added a Saturday night worship service which is thriving!

However, to ensure that we can continue our ministry and serve our growing community, we have established a legal fund (The PCC Legal Truth Fund) to help support our on-going legal struggles against the PCUSA. So far, the courts have upheld our claim to the property, but with appeals and counter claims, we expect another 1 to 2 years before we can put this distraction behind us.

While the amount of funding needed to continue our fight is difficult to estimate, we have established a goal of raising $100,000 in 2009. If we meet this goal but our legal costs are less, we will donate the remaining balance back to the EPC denomination to support their mission projects.

Your support will help to overturn the onerous "trust clause" on church property that the PCUSA has imposed on its member churches since 1983. We hope that our fight will help other churches, who like us, want to leave a denomination that has strayed from Biblical principles which are the core tenants of our faith.

If you would like to support our efforts, please prayerfully consider a donation.

In Christ,
the Session of PCC
